The 38th edition of Detroit Jazz Festival (the world’s largest free jazz event), will take place in the “city of motors” from September 1 to 4. The schedule includes shows on 4 sets, jam sessions, student showcases and musical competitions.
Among the artists participating, Wayne Shorter quartet with Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade, Herbie Hancock, Hudson with Jack DeJohnette, Larry Grenadier, John Medeski and John Scofield, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Akihiro Nishiguchi Trio, Regina Carter, Stanley Clarke, the projects “Wide Angles: The Music of Micheal Brecker” under Gil Goldstein’s direction feat. Joe Lovano, Danny McCaslin, Rick Markgitza, John Patitucci and Brian Blade, and “The Music of Elvin Jones” feat. Dave Liebman, Gene Perla, Adam Niewood and Adam Nussbaum, and many many more.
