As every year, for 10 days starting from June 21 the town of Ascona, in Switzerland, turns itself into a New Orleans’ district, where you can really listen to top quality music. The Ascona Jazz Festival reached its 34th edition, and this year also it was able to give us great emotions and wonderful acts to remember. We had the chance to listen to great artists performing on the stages set-up on the lakefront, and this already consolidated pattern this year again allowed an always increasing number of persons attend the shows in the different venues. The management of the event is care of Nicolas Gilliet, the Artistic Director of the Festival for many years, that together with the press office managed by Luca Martinelli and his staff are a guarantee for punctuality and good organisation model. JazzAscona is one of the few festivals where the contact between musicians and audience is direct and real, you can actually meet them while they walk in the lakefront or you can eat side by side with them in one of the many restaurants in the lakefront. This way of interacting with the protagonists of the music played in these 10 days is, even nowadays, unique, and only who was able to live in this “New Orleans’ Experience”, as it is defined here, is able to fully understand the value and the beauty of this Festival. Jazzespresso will publish the exclusive reports on some of the groups who have performed at the past edition, as well as the relating photographs.
