Xenya is the title of the album released by GleAM and created by a collective of great Italian talents.

Released in early June for GleAM, Xenya is the first album released by the collective formed by Cosimo Boni on trumpet, Daniele Germani on alto, Alessandro Lanzoni on piano, Francesco Ponticelli on double bass and Roberto Giaquinto on drums.

The concept of Xeya in ancient Greece summed up the concept of hospitality and the relationship between host and guest: the title naturally alludes to the creation of a new musical group in which the members make themselves available to others, sharing ideas and songs, which in this case are all originals written by one of the ensemble members (with the exception of “Walk a Little Quicker”, co-written by Boni and Germani).

The album explores all the themes of modern jazz and its developments from the 1960s to today; an acoustic music with the very modern rhythm of Ponticelli, Giaquinto and Lanzoni that perfectly supports the arrangements of trumpet and alto sax.

The most interesting moments are perhaps the more moderate ones in which the great lyrical skills of the musicians emerge: the persuasive title track and the soft ballad “Little Green” in particular. Also, to listen to is the Latin excursion of “Trabucco”, the unpredictable “Chess Game” and the sunny “The Good Place”.

Xenya is a very interesting and well recorded album, particularly suitable if you love the sounds and instances of contemporary jazz
