Carlos Vega’s new album, Bird’s Up, was released by Origin on June 16; sequel to the 2016 album Bird’s Ticket, it features the same line-up: the band leader on tenor and soprano saxophone, Victor Garcia on trumpet, Stu Mindeman on piano, Josh Ramos on double bass and Xavier Breaker on drums, with special guests Cheryl Wilson on vocals, Scott Hess on guitar, Steve Strand on flugelhorn and Michael B. Nelson on trombone in the track “Untitled Waltz For The Wednesday Morning Prayer Meeting”.
