The European Jazz Conference 2017 (EJC2017) will take place from September 21 to 24 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with the support of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture, of the city of Ljubljana and of the “Creative Europe” program of the European Union. The theme chosen for the 2017 Lecture is “WHAT IF…”, and wants to be a call for the music sector operators to deal with some of the great challenges of the contemporary society: the increase in racism, xenophobia, fear for diversity, and the resurfacing of strong nationalisms and parochialisms in many areas in Europe and around the world. The main lecturers for this year will be three very important international musicians: the Lebanese composer and oud player Rabih Abou-Khalil, the Malian singer and songwriter Rokia Traoré and the Serbian piano player Bojan Z.
