Dan Barnett is one of the most important Australian bandleaders and trombonists. Strictly Swingin’ – Live at the Workers is his first live album recorded at Balmains Unity Hall Hotel Workers Club in two sets, before a dancing (and drinking!) public. The trombonist was accompanied by his big band, many members who were part of his big bands for the 14 years the musician held his musical residency at Balmains Unity Hall. The repertoire includes great classics by Duke Ellington, Eddie Durham, Leonard Feather, Freddie Slack, enhanced by the band’s technical level; the recording is particularly well performed.
