Dama de Paus
Guai is a brilliant contemporary Brazilian singer whose first album, “Dama de Paus”, was released in 2015. We interviewed her.

When did you decide to be a singer? Why?
I dont think I chose to be a singer: I was born a singer! My parents are musicians and it was written in my DNA, i guess. I just decided to follow my dream to sing all around the world…
I dont find the songs: songs do find me.
How do you choose the musicians you work with?
This choice is made by sense. I just feel that some partnerships are going to work and others are not. The universe conspires!
And the songs?
I dont find the songs: songs do find me. I’m an interpreter, so each song must seem written by me, or (at least) for me. To chose repertoire is a sensitive work.
How do you work on compositions and arrangements?
I work with a conception, and the conception leads the great professionals that surround me. Its’ a matter of creativity, but also of being clear about ideas and know how to explain them. And, of course, a matter of working with the best musicians.
Which are your next projects?
A new single for my new album is coming soon. A brand new challenge made with love and also with great partners. Produced between Portugal and Brazil, it brings new challenges in my work.
