New York is a melting pot of music

Amongst much other, New York is a melting pot of music. You can hear just about anything anywhere. Music emitted from the streets is unfortunately often accompanied by an eerie pitch of passing ambulances, fire engine sirens and the honking of horns. It’s in the underground subways mesmerizing passengers like a snake charmer. It’s housed in dark clubs hidden away like a trove of jewels and on the stages of brightly lit tourist traps.

On a warm September evening, Chinese born, New York based pianist, composer, arranger Dongfeng Liu’s music graces a most prestigious stage at Carnegie Hall.

Liu’s Latin Jazz compositions flavored with a delicious Chinese influence is a blend of exotic musical textures, melodies and rhythms.

He’s accompanied by Grammy awarded musicians John Benitez, on bass, Roberto Quintero on percussion and by extraordinary artists Francis Benitez on drums,

Min Xiao -Fen on ruan and pipa and Feifei Yang on erhu .

Liu’s desire to add a “new voice to the conversation” has succeeded. His music is an international conversation, authentic and unique with no translation needed .

DongFeng Liu’’s CD, “China Caribe” can be found on Zoho Music.
