Lester Young With The Kansas City Five
Lester Young (1909-1959) was born in the South of the United States, in the Mississippi State.
He was inspired to play music by his family and when he was a child he learnt to play violin, trumpet and drums. By the time he was thirteen he began to play the tenor saxophone and became one of the masters of the instrument.
The musicians he worked with include jazz superstars such as Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker and Count Basie. To understand his music I would recommend the album Lester Young With The Kansas City Five.
