Let’s Start From Here
Jazzy, 2021

Let’s Start From Here (Jazzy) is the debut album of the trio led by Paolo Corsini.
The line-up, which features the leader at the piano and is completed by Alessandro Turchet on the double bass and Luca Colussi on drums, was formed in 2016. This is their first recording.
The trio has worked together for years, developing an enviable interplay and a particularly personal and original musical vision. The references to the centennial tradition of jazz becomes personal, as in the initial “Third Line”. Even the title (a pun on the “Second Line”, a drum style born in New Orleans) marks an evolution of the sound of origins. “Silver Line” is an amazing musical journey which hits continuously with new inventions and a constantly unpredictable form, while “Short R” is a more moderate song, warmed by the sounds of Rhodes, a reference to the 60s and 70s.
Some of the songs are characterized by a more contemporary sound (“Wild And Nasty”, “That’s It”, “Time Forgotten”), enriched by the extraordinary interplay of the trio, which is always at ease even in the fastest passages or the most intricate rhythms, as well as in ballads (the splendid “Bloody Ballad”, and “Rising Up To Life”).
The modal excursion of “Double H” is beautiful (with a mood that winks at jazz rock), while the Latin and rock sounds of the final number “By The Way” highlight the power of the rhythm section.
“Let’s Start From Here” is an album of great beauty: varied but cohesive, inspired by tradition but at the same time aimed at the future, starring a trio of musicians of extraordinary skill.
