Louis Hayes’s new record, “Serenade for Horace” has been issued today by Blue Note Records; the tribute is naturally dedicated to Horace Silver, whose band Hayes was a member since he was 19, when he moved to New York. The album reinterprets some of Silver’s very famous classics such as Ecaroh, Señor Blues, Song for My Father. He is accompanied by Hayes Dezron Douglas on double bass, Steve Nelson on vibraphone, David Bryant on piano, Abraham Burton on tenor sax and Josh Evans on trumpet. Special guest Gregory Porter in Song For My Father.
