The usual annual appointment with the Bollate Jazz Meeting began on last March 12. The event, particularly dedicated to the trumpet, was opened at Splendor Theater by the State of the Art, Fabrizio Bosso quartet, featuring Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Nicola Angelucci on drums and Jacopo Ferrara on double bass. Fabrizio Bosso, back on Bollate’s stage after a few years, greeted the audience with a very pleasant and listenable jazz music, by going from consolidated standards to pure improvisation. The quartet, featuring young musicians, proved a great virtuosity, especially expressed in the solos, but also in the great synergy of the group, which is by now consolidated by long collaborations and years of artistic relationships. “When I decided to set up this quartet, I didn’t do it by thinking of a record. I’d rather wanted to listen to my music played by other musicians, with a different energy and colour, maybe cooler. This is the sound of my present, and they are friends as well as the musicians who most satisfy me on stage, as they are really able to pull out the sound I have in mind. With them, I could even afford the luxury of not playing my music, and it’d work anyhow. ”An album which defines the “state of the art” State of the Art is, besides the quartet name, also the title of a double live album released in 2017 by Warner Music, recorded live during the shows in Rome, Tokyo and Verona. Those moments of great emotions were recalled to give Bollate Jazz Meeting a special start, very captivating as usual in Fabrizio’s style, who usually greets the audience with the intensity of his music and the beauty of his creations.
