Marco Colonna & Noise of Trouble
Mis sueños son irrenunciables, obstinados, testarudos y resistentes

Marco Colonna’s latest album features Luca Corrado, Cristian Lombardi and Roberto Ottaviano.
Mis Sueños son Irrenunciables, Obstinados, Testarudos y Resistentes takes its title from a quote from Luis Sepulveda (who is honored in “Luis”) and features a historical collaboration of Italian multi-instrumentalists which resulted in this album, conceived and recorded during the period of the first lockdown.
The line-up features Marco Colonna on clarinet, sax and percussion; Luca Corrado on baritone guitar; Cristian Lombardi on drums; and Roberto Ottaviano on soprano (in “LockDawn”). Colonna describes the record this way: “Thinking about the many facets of the world outside my home, it came natural to put together the sound of my instruments, the rhythms that I carry inside, and a compositional organization for a music that in my head is hybrid, poetic, indispensable. So sometimes writing for clarinet ensembles results in a free and furious duo, at other times I get involved by meeting a hip hop singer”.
The album alternates modal moments (“LockDawn”, “Luis”) with more articulated compositions (the orchestral approach of “Meaning of Brotherhood” and “Ladder of Lion”). Sometimes the groove of more acid contemporary rock creeps in (“Jellyfish”, “Sanza”), with forays into hip-hop (the voice of “Apocalypse”). The last number is “Berta”, a song between free, noise and minimalism.
Mis Sueños Son Irrenunciables, Obstinados, Testarudos y Resistentes is an album that highlights Colonna’s eclectic approach, a multifaceted and iridescent record that well represents the whirlwind times we are experiencing.
